Hello, just wanted to ask a quick question and see if I can get an ok on adding a Law Enforcement category for any sherrifs, police, bounty hunters, or federal agents. Wanted to first ask because I see how lax the categories for characters are compared to other wikis. Thank you for your time.
Personally, I don't mind it. I feel it helps organizing pages into subcategories, which could lessen the time people spend searching for a page. However, we don't use categories involving the role or importance of a character, so I don't think we want a law enforcement category.
I wanted to highlight that there are two pages dedicated to the weapon "dynamite", one for Red Dead Redemption and the second for Red Dead Redeption 2 and was just wondering if it would be better to simply merge them?
Another question is about Arthur Morgan/Relationships page. I've been editing the page thoroughly and realised that the character "Jamie Gillis", the younger brother of Mary Linton, Arthur's former girlfriend, is not on there and that if I were to add him he would not suit any of the available categories (Signifigant Others, Family, Van der Linde gang & Strangers) and was hoping that another category could be added, I would do it myself but I am still relatively new here and only really know how to edit, rather than add a new topic entirely. If possible it might be easier to change "Strangers" on that page to "Stranges & Friends" instead, as a possible solution.
My final enquiry is about the introduction of each character on their respective pages. I mentioned this to another admin and it concerns about expanding the introduction to give a brief bio of the character and who they are and what their relevance is. Other fandoms for games, films and tv shows alike do this. At the moment the introduction just simply names what games they appear in and their scripted role. I think it might make the page look more attractive for people wanting to read about certain characters. The other admin said he would consider it but nothing else beyond that.
Sorry for the lengthy post, I thought I'd type everything out in one go as oppose to doin three separate posts.
Thank you for your statement. As previously stated, we are currently planning a revamp of multiple pages, which include pages for things in both RDR & RDR II, missions, items, etc., which will include merging multiple pages.
I don't know much about the O'Driscoll's yet, but if you've got some verification on this character either not existing or having the wrong name, feel free to change it, then I'll change the name of the page.
Our patroller has already notified the user in question and is currently working on the situation but thank you for heads up. Furthermore, feel free to contact any of the staff in case you find/experience anything peculiar — we keep in contact with one another on the Discord so if one of us don’t notice the “report”, another most likely will.
Last but not least, I’d like to thank you for your efforts; it certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed.
I've noticed that some of the "missions" of this game still don't have articles, which is why I bring this proposition forth. I think that ones which are exclusively cutscenes don't really warrant their own articles, and instead should be included as sections in articles of actual missions, similar to how it is with the stranger missions. For example, "Pouring Forth Oil I" and "Pouring Forth Oil II" would be "Pouring Forth Oil II," while III and IV would be "Pouring Forth Oil IV." Any links that would go to I and III would instead go to their sections in the articles for II and IV instead.
I went through and made some determinations, let me know what you think.
We Loved Once and True I, II & III - We Loved Once and True
Pouring Forth Oil I & II - Pouring Forth Oil II
Pouring Forth Oil III & IV - Pouring Forth Oil IV
Money Lending and Other Sins I & II - Money Lending and Other Sins II
The Course of True Love I & II - The Course of True Love II
Advertising, The New American Art I & II - Advertising, The New American Art
Fatherhood and Other Dreams I & II - Fatherhood and Other Dreams
American Fathers I & II - American Fathers
Money Lending and Other Sins VI & VII - Money Lending and Other Sins VI
The Course of True Love IV & V - The Course of True Love V
Of Men and Angels I & II - Of Men and Angels
Mrs. Sadie Adler, Widow I & II - Mrs. Sadie Adler, Widow
The Landowning Classes & Home of the Gentry? - Home of the Gentry?
Uncle's Bad Day & The Best of Women - Uncle's Bad Day
I feel like this would keep the wiki from having a lot of articles that are just describing cutscenes and letters being read.
As a side note, would it be possible to change the article names of "Money Lending & Other Sins" to "Money Lending and Other Sins"? I only ask because that is how the mission names are shown in the game.
I just think it's best the article names conform with how the names are presented in the game is all, but that's just my opinion. I thought it'd be best to make the suggestion before articles for the other "Money Lending and Other Sins" missions were made. If you all decide to change the titles I'd be happy to go through all the articles where the names are mentioned and change them myself :)
That user is a troll that likes to cause problems on popular wiki pages and seems to keep changing his ip address all the time. He has been blocked many times and has been blocked globally before by Fandom staff. I have ecountered him before on a different wiki I worked on and blocked him.
I don't see his Angelo Bronte edit as evidence of being a sockpuppet.
His edit to Angelo Bronte is the same as previous sockpuppets, and he displays what I would say is hostile behaviour once I undo his edits. Not to mention the fact he is a brand new user; no profile pic, no personal information, no global edit count or discussions count.
He may just be a new user trying to make good edits, but he fits the description of a sockpuppet quite well.
Hello: You appear in mentality and attitude antipodal opposite of the normative or statistically dominant Wikipedia-type editorial personality (a development of Nietzschean "Last Man" syndrome in the West) - I respect this, sincerely; further modifications to the shire you reeve, you are the Sheriff if I read aright?, I shall try to make more polished and easily capable of confirmatory objectivity. Also: sometimes complex personal equation reasons lead certain Web users to openly adopt proxy IP, mainly as a means of social tension prophylaxis in many contexts - I use an utterly randomized IP for such-like reasons, and apologize if this constitutes a formalistic violation of accepted editorial standards and criteria, etc., but one must look beyond even IP addresses seemingly "bot" or "sock-puppet" like and case by case, perceptually assess the discrete contribution and its erudition, or lack thereof - I exist as the rare ethically-sensitive IP-"masker" who occassionally shall editorially supplement wiki-platforms, contextualizing, deepening background or unveiling little-known facts in good-faith and realize I am the exception. I just wanted to say this as your personality really is refreshingly lacking wikipedian-editorial egomania dark-side tendencies and wish you to know, if I make future editorial supplementation, I shall try to respect the usages around here and act more professionally. Thanks for surprising me in NOT conforming or acquiescing to the typical wiki-editor syndrome - seriously.
