Hi Ilan. Well since retiring on the GTA Wiki I've just been reminiscing from time to time, especially as every time I log onto the internet the first thing I start typing is "gta" like I always did, gotta get out of the habit.
I'm still hoping to continue the good work we've been doing here though, especially since Red Dead Redemption 2 is out in a just a few months.
Weird to think it has been over 3 years since you left the GTA Wiki so seeing you back so active is kind of strange haha.
Yeah, I know that feel all very well. After I retired I felt the urge to keep going to the GTA Wiki for a while before finally shifting interest in other things. I do wish I could have done better job with maintaining contact with all of you.
I might retire yet again, this time from here, in the future, but right now I am gonna do my best to push upwards the quality of this wiki, heh. Damn, time flies and I can't believe it's been already 3 years. But hey, now we can work together again like old times!
Hi, Vault! Long time since last time wasn't it?! Well, I am reaching out to you regarding my request for becoming a bureaucrat. The reason for this is first of all that the wiki lacks of any active Bureaucrats. Second of all is that due to my increased dedication for the wiki I have contributed with many new additions to the wiki, most of it being technical. I am also aware that a huge amount of new editors will find their way to this wiki around the release of RDR 2. Thus an active bureaucrat needs to be present in order to be able to promote users. It is due to the shortage of bureaucrats that I find that an additional bureaucrat is needed, that being myself. Since the past promotions on the wiki hasn't required an official "vote" I reach out to regarding your thoughts on this request. I've thought about running for bcrat for some time now, however it wasn't until a few members mentioned the need for a new bureaucrat in Discord that I really started to consider it. Personally I think I will make good use of the role, in cohesion with my knowledge of the wiki and being a long time Wikia member I find that I can evaluate requests while adapting them to the requirements, thus promoting users should not be too foreign to me. Yeah, you've got more edits than me for christ sake. I'll promote you now. Hopefully I'll become mroe active again closer to the release date of RDR 2 but I've just been so limited with time since starting work in October that I've never got time to be on the wikis usually and when I do there's always something else I'd rather be doing.
I've taken the liberty of removing the RDR Myths Wiki from the Affiliate's section of the main page. It's not exactly good for our reputation to be associated with that wiki, and although I have no care whatsoever what people's opinion's are of me, I do know that reputation is important for the wiki. We promote facts, and they don't. It's something very simple. This will certainly stop users from turning back once RDR II releases and you know as well as I do that this is what is best for the future of the wiki. Let's allow this decision the benefit of reasonable judgement and review without interference.
I've changed the wiki navigation of the to add The Spawny Award and Hall Of Gunslingers to it. Both are under the Honors Of The Wiki category in the Community section, but I had to take out the old forums. You should think of something to do for them, like maybe an archive. Change something in the navigation if need be.
I've come up with a few more things to have on the wiki by the time Red Dead Redemption II releases. Both things are somewhat inspired by the now deceased Spawny, with the former idea being fully inspired by her. The first idea is an award to a user who's contributed the most to the wiki. I'm still working on a name, but it'd be a yearly award, that would coincide with the next proposition. The current name I have in mind is The Spawny Award, although it's a slight cliche using the users name. The second proposition is that we start a Red Dead Wiki Hall Of Fame. Both of these proposition would occur at the end of every year, with the Spawny award starting next year, once I've finished talks with the deceased's sister. The Spawny award would be a user vote, while users inducted into the Hall Of Fame are voted on through a staff vote. I've already got a few users considered for The Hall Of Fame. Take into consideration that all active staff must vote on a set of users. This set of users will be determined by proposed users, and as I've got some users in mind, I'll be submitting my ideas. All other staff are free to add users to that list. As for The Spawny Award, users will propose users they feel have contributed to the wiki the most, then staff will look at the list, and after a series of talks, likely to be hosted in the Wiki Discord Staff Meeting Room, staff will choose one user from that list.
Once I have your approval, I should be able to get a blog post up tomorrow after school, which will feature both propositions. Once I completed talks with Spawny's sister, we can do The Spawny Award next year, mainly due to nothing much happening this year.
The blogs been posted. I'll notify Jacki and Monk. We should meet in the staff room on the Discord server to determine the first inductees into The Gunslinger Of Fame, along with the first receiver of The Spawny Award.
I have decided to write an Advice Blog, giving advice on good qualities of Administrators. I don't believe it'll be incorporated into the eventual news, instead staying it's own entity. I don't know it it'll become weekly, but I believe it'll be repeated in the future.
I've gotten the server mostly ready for a large amount of people. It has a room showing rules, a room for chatting, a room for videos and photos, and room for staff meetings, and a room to hold outlaws (bad users). There's also a voice chat, and I have roles all set up. Already got one user and Jacki in the server.
Alright. I've added your user and staff role, so you now have powers and stuff on the server. Only Monk is needed to complete the current staff lineup in the server. I expect more users to show up when an activity spurt occurs on the wiki.
