Money Lending and Other Sins IV is a mission in Red Dead Redemption 2. It takes place in Chapter 3.

Mission Overview

Leopold Strauss wants Arthur to retrieve some money from Winton Holmes, an unemployed refinery worker and from Gwyn Hughes an apprentice undertaker.

Story

Gwyn Hughes

Gwyn will be located at an Undertaker (Mortician's) in Rhodes doing woodworking on a coffin.

Arthur threatens Gwyn for the money and he explains that he can retrieve it, though "the morality of the matter is a little confusing". He takes Arthur to a church graveyard and states that he will have to dig up Mrs. Claypole for her jewelry. When he realizes that there are a few people around, Arthur is tasked with clearing them off. After all the civilians are gone, Arthur must stand guard of the gate to make sure nobody comes in. Gwyn graverobs and then hands Arthur a diamond brooch to pay the debt.

Winton Holmes

Winton will be located at a campsite to the north of Strawberry sleeping.

Arthur wakes Winton up and asks for the money while eating Winton's stew. Winton tells Arthur that he's got the money, but he hasn't got it yet. He explains that he tracked a rare cougar and was planning on hunting it to sell the pelt for the debt money. Arthur threatens him some more and Winton begs - saying the hard work is done and all that's left is the hunting. Him and Arthur get on their horses' and Winton leads him to the cougar's den in the mountains. He leads Arthur inside, but the cave forks in two; Winton goes left and tells Arthur to go right. After Arthur reaches a point in the cave, Holmes is killed by the cougar. Arthur kills the cougar, skins it, and sells the pelt to the butcher.

Glitch in Winton Holmes Debt

After completing this mission, the Butcher's icon in Strawberry may disappear from both the mini-map and the map in the pause menu. To avoid this, you must not stow the cougar pelt on your horse and instead walk on foot to Strawberry and sell the pelt to the butcher whilst holding it.
