Schultz is the owner and shopkeeper of Schultz Gunsmith, the only remaining shop in the mining town of Annesburg.
His family name suggests that he is of German heritage, while the noticeable German accent, with which he speaks English, makes it seem likely that he learned English as a second language, most likely after coming to America as an immigrant.
Events of Red Dead Redemption 2[]
The player can buy ammunition or new weapons, customize existing weapons, and purchase gear such as gun oil, a bandolier, or gun belts from Schultz's store. Additionally, Schultz's store lends out a bath and a room, which the player can use for 25 cents and $1 respectively.

- Comments by Schultz reveal that his store is the only shop left in Annesburg, while all other shops that used to exist in the town have closed down and that he is pessimistic about the future prospects of his hometown.
