*A private train owned by Leviticus Cornwall was robbed, shortly after it had departed from West Elizabeth and headed North towards the Grizzlies. The train, without a driver or crew, was found barreling through the area at high rate of speed and  was eventually stopped by engineers and lawmen north of Annesburg. No survivors have been found.

*Officials issued bounties on the heads of Dutch van der Linde and his gang. The town of Blackwater still remains under lock-down, while a massive manhunt is underway. Residents of Blackwater are dissatisfied with the lock-down because it creates an unnecessary burden to life and welfare.

*A series of late spring snowstorms rendered the Grizzlies impassable in May. Many people were unprepared, having used most of their winter provisions. There are concerns about flooding due to The snow-melt, as happened in the late spring snowstorms of 1883.

*The tension between Mexico and USA have been heightened. General Francisco Ramirez, who seized the presidency of Mexico in the bloody coup of 1876, has placed troops along the border to deny entry to prospectors, cattle ranchers and renegade bands of Indians. In retaliation, President Macalister has called for a ban on trade with Mexico.

*An amateur paleontologist Deborah MacGuiness is in on the hunt, excavating several sites in the states. MacGuiness asserts that an undiscovered species of dinosaurs, which she labeled as a Totalisaurus, once inhabited the region in the prehistoric ages. Though Several universities have rejected her work, saying Ms.MacGuiness would be better suited to writing fiction than searching for dinosaurs.

*An epidemic of bubonic plague has broken out in India and Hong Kong and spread to US troops in the Philippines. The plague appears to have spread into the country as victims of plague were confirmed in New York and Saint Denis. Any bodies suspected of death from the disease should be immediately burned.

*A group of outlaws had robbed the train near the Lemoyne border. Placing an oil wagon on the tracks to force the train to stop, the outlaws then threatened the passengers to give up their belongings. They were soon confronted by lawmen having been tipped off to the robbery. Reports indicate the outlaws escaped after a furious gun battle with the lawmen.

*President Alfred Macalister congratulated the US's victory over Spain, saying that Spain is no longer a power, and the United States stands as the strongest nation in the western hemisphere. He especially made mention of Colonel Thaddeus Waxman and his Rough Riders, the cavalry troop that took San Juan Hill in Guarma, becoming a national hero in the process.

*Ministers gathered last week to denounce the claims of eccentric resident Frank Sinclair of Big Valley, West Elizabeth, who asserts he has found evidence of ancient peoples in local rock formations.
