Removes any accumulated bounty when turned in at a local train station

–In-game description

A Pardon Letter is an official document that assures legitimate clemency for an individual's crime or crimes.

Characteristics

In Red Dead Redemption, Marston can get rid of his bounty by turning them in at a Telegraph Office. Pardon letters can only be used when the player is wanted. They can be found in Gang Hideouts, in looted chests, story missions, and, occasionally, in cracked safes.

The Pardon Letter is introduced in the mission "Exhuming and Other Fine Hobbies", although it is possible to acquire one before this.

Pardon Letters are only available in Single Player mode and cannot be bought in any store.

The player will receive one every time a gang hideout is completed.

The player can only carry 5 Pardon letters at a time, but if all Treasure Hunter Challenges are completed, the player can carry twice the amount of consumables. This includes Pardon letters.

It is highly recommended to save pardon letters for very high bounties.

Achievements

The Pardon Letter can be used to acquire the following trophy/achievement:

Friendsinhighplaces
10 gamerscoregamerscore
Bronze bronzebronze
Use the Pardon Letter with more than $5,000 Bounty in Single Player.
