This page describes one of Red Dead Wiki's policies and guidelines
All users are expected to follow policy, except where it would damage the wiki. If you have any questions, suggestions, or complaints, please post them on the talk page.
The main page and each of the portal pages within this wiki contain a section where a noteworthy article is featured. The intent of this section is to highlight articles that are of interest to the wiki community and that serve as examples of well-formed pages.
This policy describes the criteria that an article must meet in order to be featured and the process by which featured articles are nominated and voted for.
Page criteria
To be nominated, pages must be well structured, well written, and "complete" (as far as that term can be used on a wiki). Pages marked as "stub" or "messy" would not qualify, in other words.
User qualifications
In order to keep the process manageable, nominations and voting are limited to active, contributing members of the wiki. For the purposes of this process, this is defined as any registered user who has earned the "High Plains Editor" badge (for making 50 edits on pages).
Nominations
Each qualified user can have one active nomination at a time. If a user already has one nomination and wishes to change it, the existing nomination must be withdrawn first. To nominate a page, a qualified user must do the following:
- Add the {{Featured Nomination}} template to the top of the page that is being nominated.
- Add a section to the voting page, per the instructions on that page. The section will include the user's description of why the page is being nominated as well as areas for other users to vote and comment on the nomination.
With the appropriate template added, nominated pages will show the following across the top:
This article has been nominated for consideration as a featured article for the site. |
Voting
Each qualified user may give a positive or negative vote to any active nomination or may choose to abstain from voting and simply leave a comment. Votes will be tabulated on a monthly basis. The article with the best rating will become the featured article for the following month. To cast a vote, qualified users must do the following:
- Review the nominations on the voting page.
- For each nomination that is being voted on, add the {{Featured Support}} or {{Featured Oppose}} template to the appropriate area, per the instructions on the page. Each template includes a field for adding a brief justification for the vote.
