- For the Red Dead Redemption variant, see Rolling Block Rifle.
The Rolling Block Rifle is a scoped weapon featured in Red Dead Redemption 2 and in Red Dead Online.
Description[]
Designed for hunting large beasts, the Litchfield Rolling Block is a powerful long scoped rifle, designed for long-range combat. With multiple telescopic sights available in different zoom levels, a sharpshooter can eliminate a target from afar and gain the element of surprise. This gun is a single-shot weapon, and can use Regular, High Velocity, Split Point, Express and Explosive rifle ammo.
Acquisition[]
This sniper rifle is obtained from the Valentine gunsmith for free, during mission "The Sheep and the Goats".
It can also be acquired earlier before initiating the mission "Exit Pursued by a Bruised Ego". The player must use the "Companion glitch" and get Hosea to spawn with them. Then the player should wait for Hosea to put the weapon on his horse and then they must throw a dynamite near him. This will cause Hosea to fall off the horse and the weapon will be on the ground, where it can be picked up.[1] Alternatively, the player can lead an enemy near Hosea. If this happens, they will wrestle the weapon from Hosea and cause it to be dropped on the ground, where the player can pick it up.[2]
It must be noted that this companion glitch with Hosea can be done easiest before completing "Americans at Rest", as Bill will be at camp and getting Hosea out will be much more difficult.
Alternatively, the rifle can be obtained in early Chapter 2 from Lenny the same way as with Hosea[3], but it will be much more difficult to get Lenny out of camp, because there will be more gang members at camp at that point of Chapter 2.
In Red Dead Online, the rifle can be purchased at any gunsmith.

Trivia[]
- The weapon is based on the Remington Rolling Block rifle.
- The HUD icon of the Rolling Block Rifle is incorrectly depicted in the game, as the stock is lower positioned and the scope more positioned on the back than aligned with the start of the barrel as shown in the game.
- The Rolling Block Rifle is one of two guns which players are forced to look through a scope when aiming, with the other gun being the Carcano rifle. Combined with its low rate of fire, this rifle has very limited usefulness during a close range firefight.
- With the use of a glitch, the player can completely bypass this restriction by removing the scope from the rifle. The scopeless rolling block rifle is fully functional in first and third person, and thus can be used like a more powerful Springfield rifle. However, they cannot auto-aim due to the gun not being intended to be used this way. This also renders the gun's catalog description ironic, which mocks those who fight at close range.
- Lenny Summers uses a custom model in blued steel with a browned frame and a maple varnish.
