—Chief Running Moon ordering Shadow Wolf to rescue Red |
Running Moon is a minor character featured in Red Dead Revolver.
Despite being related to the main protagonist himself, Running Moon is not a playable character in Showdown Mode.
History[]
Background[]
Chief Running Moon is the leader of the Red Wolf Tribe. His tribe shares a rivalry with the Black Elk Tribe. He is the father of Falling Star and her unknown sibling, as well as the grandfather of Red Harlow and Shadow Wolf. Moon did not approve of Falling marrying Nate Harlow and she had to leave the tribe as a result. At the same time, Shadow Wolf would also distance himself from the tribe because of this.
He knew of the gold being hidden at the Bear Mountain mine, but loved the sacred lands too much to desecrate them for it.
At some point bandits rode on his son-in law Nate Harlow's farm, killing him and Falling Star, and leading Running Moon to believe that Red was perished as well.
Events of Red Dead Revolver[]
Running Moon appears in the opening cutscene of the mission "Bear Mountain" along with two other elders, sitting in front of a river with their tents visible. He is being informed by Shadow Wolf that Red is alive, but captured by the Mexican Renegade General Javier Diego and locked up in the Bear Mountain mine. He then orders Shadow Wolf to rescue the captured Red.
Mission appearances[]
- "Bear Mountain" (opening cutscene)
Sheriff Bartlett's Journal[]
Chief Running Moon is listed in Sheriff Bartlett's Journal under the Citizens of the Wilderness section. His journal pages can be unlocked once the player has purchased the Indian Necklace at the start of the shop interface before "Fort Diego".
Trivia[]
- Running Moon's model appears as an enemy in the mission "Hell Pass", ironically being a part of the Black Elk Tribe.
- He is the only Native American in the Red Dead series to wear an Indian headdress or a bonnet.
