The Sketched Map is a treasure map in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Location[]
The map can be found in Reed Cottage, a small cottage north of Annesburg. It will be marked on the map when the player gets close. After entering the door and inspecting the chimney, the player will find this map stuffed inside.
The location of the treasure is found near the northwestern ridge of Elysian Pool, right below the second "R" in Kamassa River on the map. In this area, the player needs to locate a tree with an "X" carved on it.
Treasure[]
Following the directions on the map, starting at the tree marked with an "X", the player then proceeds with '20 steps north and 5 steps east'. The player will find a hidden Gold Ingot under a rock. It can be sold at any Fence.
Bugs/Glitches[]
- There is a bug that can prevent the player from picking up the treasure. If the player already has a gold ingot in their inventory (usually the Ingot given to the player at the start of Chapter 3) then the hidden treasure cannot be picked up. The player can still sell the gold ingot in their inventory to a Fence, and try again. (Current as of build 1.0.1491.50 and Title Update 1.32)
- Some players meet a bug that makes a gold ingot vanish and all that is left is an empty hole after some points of the game, even though the player does not collect a treasure map yet or has no gold ingot in the satchel; to prevent this bug the player must make sure the collect the map and gold ingot before moving to Chapter 3.
Trivia[]
- While the map, for all intents and purposes, is a treasure map, it is not placed in the 'Treasure Maps' category of the player's satchel, but under 'Maps' instead.
- Because the game does not count it as a proper treasure map, locating the map or the treasure does not count towards any of the 'Explorer' challenges.
