Stables are horse shops featured in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online. They sell horse tack and provisions, among other horse-related items. Stables can also be used to rename horses and change their appearance to the player's liking. Players can have up to four horses at the stables.
Locations[]
Locations are the same for both Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online
Red Dead Redemption 2[]
Access[]
The stables are automatically unlocked after the mission "Exit Pursued by a Bruised Ego". However, if the Mahogany Bay Tennessee Walker dies the horse shop will become available early.

Trivia[]
- Stable owners will comment about the player horse's health and weight upon entering.
- Should the player be able to enter a stable while under town lockdown, they will be blocked from interacting and mounting any of the horses found inside, owned or otherwise. This includes jumping onto their backs from high ground and lassoing.
- Despite this, a grayed-out "Mount Horse" button prompt will still appear at the bottom right corner of the screen.
- Forcing a horse mount via third party software on PC will count the attempt as "stealing". Honor will be deducted and the game will read the horse as "stolen/wild" should the player attempt to sell it.
- Whenever the player does not have an active horse outside of the stable in Story Mode, they will be given a Chestnut Tennessee Walker for free by either starting a mission or reloading the game. However, the player's saddle must still be retrieved.
