Taima is a supporting character in Red Dead Redemption 2.
She served as the mount of Charles Smith and the temporary mount of Arthur Morgan throughout 1899.
History[]
Background[]
It is unknown for how long Charles had Taima prior to the events of the game, though it seems the two had developed a bit of a bond from the start.
Events of Red Dead Redemption 2[]
Colter Chapter[]
Taima was lent to Arthur shortly after the death of his own horse, Boadicea, and together she and Arthur were sent on a scouting mission where they located an abandoned town known as Colter, that would serve as the gang’s camp shortly after the Blackwater Massacre. They reunite with the gang, and head to Colter allowing Dutch van der Linde to give an inspirational speech. She is then seen being led by Charles Smith at the gang’s camp alongside The Count. Charles hands the horses over to Dutch and Arthur, who ride them up the mountain on a snowy path. They run into Micah Bell and Baylock, who leads them to Adler Ranch, where she, Baylock and The Count are hitched nearby. A shootout occurs involving members of the O’Driscoll gang, and after they are dealt with, Micah brings the horses closer to the house. Dutch stores a blanket on her after a thorough search of the house. Arthur then finds a horse of his own in the barn, and could thus give her back to Charles. Following Micah torching the place, the gang is forced to ride back to Colter until the storm clears. She is later seen riding with Charles and Arthur and his horse down the nearby stream as they go to hunt deer to feed the camp. Charles stores the carcass on her back before riding back alongside Arthur and his horse. She then goes with Charles and other members of the gang as they go to rob a train, in which they stop at a ledge near some tracks that are supposed to blow up. This fails, leading to a few members of the gang chasing after the train on foot and the rest riding up to meet with them after the train has stopped. The two then ride back to camp alongside the rest of the gang.
Horseshoe Overlook Chapter[]
She is then seen at the gang’s new camp at Horseshoe Overlook. Optionally, Charles will head out with Arthur and his horse on Taima to go hunting, only to find a group of poachers that they track down and deal with. She and Charles then ride away following the final poacher being dealt with. Later, in order to deal with some bounty hunters carrying Sean Macguire, a lost member of the gang, Charles and her ride ahead before rescuing Sean and riding back to camp. She is then ridden by Charles to escape the law in “Pouring Forth Oil - IV”. Eventually, the gang decides it’s time to set up camp elsewhere and Charles rides Taima alongside Arthur and his horse to check out a new spot at Dewberry Creek. Instead, they find a German family whose father has been kidnapped, and they ride down to Clemens Point to rescue him. After getting in a shootout and doing so, it ends up being a good spot to set up camp, and so the two ride off to tell the gang about the spot there while Arthur and his horse return the father to his family.
Clemens Point Chapter[]
Sometime after arriving at the new camp, Charles and Taima ride out with Arthur and his horse to locate Josiah Trelawny, who has gone missing again. They track him down to a cabin near Braithwaite Manor, and after a shootout in the nearby fields, Trelawny is rescued and they ride back to camp. Taima is taken out by Charles during “An Honest Mistake” to rob a wagon. After escaping in a shootout, she is sent away while the gang hides in a barn. Charles rides her up to the Braithwaite Manor in “Blood Feuds, Ancient and Modern” following Jack Marston’s disappearance.
Saint Denis Chapter[]
She will appear at the gang’s new camp in Shady Belle, but she is only ridden to and from the Rhodes Bank by Charles, where she will help him to evade the law alongside Uncle, Nell II, as well as Arthur and his horse.
Guarma Chapter[]
Her appearance at Lakay is brief, but Charles mounts her as they go out with Arthur and his horse to search for a new camp spot, she will then optionally head to the new camp if the player decides not to take the boats, but it must be cleared out first. Charles then rides back on her to inform the gang of the new camp spot.
Beaver Hollow Chapter[]
When the gang settles in at Beaver Hollow, Charles takes Taima to help recover some horses for a group of Native Americans. They then ride up to support Rains Fall as he tries to discuss a peace treaty, which ends in a shootout in which Charles escapes on her. They decide to stay with the Native Americans, and at some point Charles takes her alongside Arthur and his horse to rescue one of the recently captured Natives, Eagle Flies. After recapturing Eagle Flies, Charles puts him on her and soon thereafter she is left by the shore after they decide to escape in canoes instead. Later, Charles rides him as the gang leads an attack on a Cornwall Factory, before the two ride back with Arthur and his horse, who is carrying a gravely injured Eagle Flies. Following this, Charles and her head off and Taima is never seen again, though it seems Charles has replaced her by 1907 with Falmouth.
