The Joys of Civilization is a mission in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Mission overview

Having just arrived in Saint Denis, Dutch and Arthur ask around the Bastille Saloon for information on Angelo Bronte.

Arthur arrives at the saloon and asks the bartender for information on Angelo Bronte. The bartender, however, refuses to give away any information. Shortly after, a bar patron approaches Arthur, saying the kids in the back alley of the saloon know about the man he is looking for.

Following the mans advice, he heads into the back alleys to find the kids, and inquires about Bronte. Two kids agree to help Arthur in exchange for $5. During their tour of the city, one of the kids named Cleet steals Arthur's satchel and runs away with it.

A chase sequence begins with Arthur chasing Cleet through trolleys and rooftops, it should be noted that the "Whistle Horse" feature is disabled during this sequence so Arthur will probably not be able to ride his horse unless it was left nearby before the chase started. However a convenient horse is placed just around the corner from where Cleet boards the trolley, use this to your advantage because it makes catching the kid a whole lot easier.

If Arthur is able to catch the thief, the kid will give Arthur's things back and tell him about where Bronte lives.

Should Arthur fail to catch him, Cleet will have led him into a ambush where several other children, two holding guns, are waiting for him. One kid, who seems to be the leader of this gang, will then tell Arthur where to find Bronte and give Arthur his items back anyway.

Gold Medal Objectives

  • Catch the street urchin before he reaches the market.
  • Complete within 5 minutes and 30 seconds.
