Her husband don't know she's fucking the help.
Theodore Eaves, referring to Mintie Cummings

Theodore Eaves is a minor character featured in Red Dead Redemption.

Background[]

Theodore was employed by Hart Cummings at one point. While he was working for him, in secret he was sleeping with Harts wife Mintie. Hart died in 1909 of a “bad cough”, and was buried in Odd Fellow's Rest. After that, he and Mintie moved to the remote home, The Old Bacchus Place. He is a Stagecoach Driver in New Austin, and Mintie is a Ranch Maid at Ridgewood Farm. He has relatives, Amelia Eaves, buried in Tumbleweed cemetery, and Matilda and Charlotte Eaves, who died decades ago, and were buried in Odd Fellow's Rest, along with Hart.

Interactions[]

Theodore can most often be found in Armadillo, loitering in and around the Saloon. However, he has been known to frequent multiple locations throughout New Austin and West Elizabeth, such as Manzanita Post. He can also be found at his home, The Old Bacchus Place with Mintie.

Events of Undead Nightmare[]

Note: The events of Undead Nightmare are not considered part of the same canon as Red Dead Redemption. The following description is therefore not contiguous with the preceding section on Red Dead Redemption.

By the time of Undead Nightmare, Theodore has been killed and turned into the Undead, and his partner Mintie went Missing at Riley's Charge. If Marston saves her, she is returned to Fort Mercer, where she stays for a while. Mintie can also be found defending Thieves' Landing were she is on top of the warehouse or on one of the buildings.

With Theodore and Mintie out of their home, Seth Briars claimed it as his own.

Trivia[]

  • Since Red Dead Redemption takes place in a time when it was illegal to date interracially in the United States, this may explain why they live in such a secluded spot.
  • It's possible that Hart owned Ridgewood Farm, and that's where Theodore would have worked. This would also explain why Mintie still sleeps there.
  • He's one of the few African-American people to use the term "cracker", which is a slang for a white southerner, also known as a hillbilly.
