  • Stop ruining the lore by spreading false information. The game never states they are the same event. It doesn't even make any sense, because of the outcomes of both events are different. 3 outlaws died during or because the robbery, Davey, Mac, and Jenny. 22 outlaws died at the hands of police and Landon Ricketts during the massacre. The RDR subbreddit posts say you're wrong

    • Howdy Roush!

I presume that you are referring to this thread on Reddit, right? Keep in mind that the following statement is my personal opinion on this.

Bigbat39 is not spreading false information, quite on the contrary. It is hard for me to imagine that two robberies on a ferry occurring in the same year, with the same result and in the same location aren't the same event. There are eight years between the two games so obviously there will be retcons like in any other multi-game franchise so a direct statement from Rockstar would be redundant, at best.

Furthermore, just because a subreddit with nine comments disagrees with a statement, doesn't mean that the statement itself is wrong.

    • Where is it shown that they are the same event? The Blackwater Massacre didn't even involve a ferry or a robbery. It was just a fight between outlaws, and police, with Landon Ricketts helping the police.

In the first game, not much specifics was given on the Blackwater Massacre. This led to a lot of speculation, but I do believe that the opening events of Red Dead Redemption II is the Blackwater Massacre. I'll need to check in-game to see if I can find some evidence, but I do believe it is.

    • The Blackwater Massacre has always been a robbery-gone-wrong, simply because Rockstar decided to tweak it slightly during the eight-year gap between the two games doesn't mean that the event themselves are two separate ones.

Both events take place in the same year.

Both events take place in the same settlement.

Both events result in a 'uuuge shoot-out.

Both events result in a manhunt.

Both events are pretty much, if not completely, identical.

    • Everything you've said is incorrect. It literally makes zero sense for them to be the same event. The death toll and involved parties aren't even the same. You're screwing up the lore.

    • Please elaborate on how everything is incorrect, or not, in either case we won’t have a definite answer before Rockstar comes with a statement.
