The Valentine Sheriff's Office is a location and Law Enforcement Agency featured in Red Dead Redemption 2.

The office was established at some point prior to 1898. It is managed by Sheriff Curtis Malloy.

Events of Red Dead Online

In 1898, after the temporary imprisonment of Alfredo Montez in Valentine's sheriff's office, the protagonists meet up with Marshal Davies and Sheriff Malloy inside during "Bring a Goddamn Posse", Davies promptly shoots Montez dead inside the cell. Shortly after, the town's streets are overwhelmed with Del Lobo Gang members wanting to avenge Montez. Davies and the players are able to fight the bandits off.

If they have unlocked the Bounty Hunter Role, the protagonist can also take bounty posters off the board next to the office and bring them in after capturing or killing them. When taking a bounty in, Sheriff Malloy will make a brief comment before handing the player the money.

The player may as well become imprisoned themselves for a short period of time by surrendering to bounty hunters.

Events of Red Dead Redemption 2

Arthur firstly interacts with the office in "Good, Honest, Snake Oil". During the mission, Bounty Hunting is introduced to the player, who has to capture Benedict Allbright alive and bring him in. Later on, the player can go after Ellie Anne Swan for Sheriff Malloy.

At the end of "A Quiet Time", Jeb brings Lenny and Arthur to the lawmen's attention for harassing him in the saloon. If Arthur escapes, he will wake up near Flatneck Station the following morning. If he is arrested alongside Lenny, Morgan will wake up in a jail cell and the duo will bribe a deputy to release them.

During "The Sheep and the Goats", multiple lawmen of the office are killed during the shootout with John, Dutch, and Arthur. At the end of the mission, the player has to flee from the town and escape the lawmen.

The office makes a final appearance in "Sodom? Back to Gomorrah" when another shootout occurs between its lawmen and Van der Linde gang members. During the fight, many officers are shot dead and the gang manages to escape from the town. Arthur, Lenny, Bill, and Karen ultimately lose the lawmen chasing them by beating a train at a railroad crossing.

Aside from Allbright and Swan, the player also can bring in Edmund Lowry Jr. during "American Dreams". Upon introduction, Lowry will attack the Sheriff and the player is given the choice to intervene or do nothing. By shooting Lowry, they will be rewarded with a small amount of money. However, by not interfering, the Sheriff will eventually shoot Edmund dead and will refuse to reward he player.

  • There appears to be corruption within the office's lawmen, as one of them can be seen taking bribes from O'Driscoll gang members.
  • If Arthur is arrested and becomes imprisoned inside the office, Dutch might break him out by pretending to be his cousin or by simply holding an officer at gunpoint alongside Charles.
